March 21 Barnard and Columbia alumni were treated to a very special evening of theater. Before viewing the MainStage performance of the play, “The Seven Year Itch,” the group enjoyed a private reception in the intimate 50-seat black box theater, the SandBox.
On Saturday, March 7, about twenty Columbia alumni and guests attended the Miami International Film Festival's world premier showing of Algún Lugar (translated, "On the Road, Somewhere"), a film about about three Dominican teenagers who embark on a hilarious and touching pre-college road trip, into the very heart (and soul) of the Dominican Republic.Read more
For the third year in a row, the Columbia community comes together in a 24-hour blitz to "change lives that change the world."
Here's quick update on a local alumna of note, Daniella Levine Cava. As a political newcomer, she managed to handily win the hotly contested race for Miami-Dade County Commissioner in District 8. This was only the third time in the past 20 years that anyone had defeated an incumbent commissioner (and the only time after one term). Commissioner-Elect Cava was kind enough to entertain a few questions this week for the Columbia Club of South Florida. She will officially take office on November 18.

The Columbia Lions Baseball team has advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and will be playing their first game in Miami on Friday, May 30. More information about that game is available in the upcoming events section of this website.
Columbia set a team record for victories in a season by improving to 29-18 with a 4-3, 10-inning victory at Bucknell on Saturday, May 24. They went 15-5 in conference play and earned consecutive Ivy League championships for the third time, and the first since 1960-61.
The team was recently highlighted in an article by Tom Pedulla in the New York Times.
