Here's your chance to meet the Super Stars of tomorrow! Once a year  the New World School of the Arts provides  a sneak peek at its most talented dancers and choreographers.  The 2016 Spring Dance showcase boasts a must-see visual and musical spectacular, including  the works of jazz composer Don Ellis, contemporary composers John Mackey and Tigger Benford, and digital graphic designer Paul Kaiser/Open Ended Group. The raw energy and talent of these dancers will knock your socks off!

The program will feature dances by guest choreographers Robert Battle (NWSA alum and Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Company), Sean Curran (Artistic Director, Sean Curran Dances), Darshan Singh Bhuller (former dancer, London Contemporary Ballet) and by faculty choreographers Gerard Ebitz (former member, New York City Ballet), Peter London (former principal dancer, Martha Graham Dance Company), and Rebecca Cannan.

New World School of the Arts was created by the Florida Legislature as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts. It is an educational partnership of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida and offers the high school diploma as well as the BFA and BM college degrees.  NWSA graduates include Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey Dance Theater; Lili Estefan,  talk show host (El Gordo y la Flaca), and Jessica Sutta (former member of the Pussycat Dolls, and featured in the movie Single in South Beach (2016)).

Our Special Connection  is Mary Lisa Burns, Dean of the NWSA School of Dance. Before moving to Miami she was a distinguished faculty member of the world-renowned Merce Cunningham Studio  Burns was also a part-time faculty member of the Dance Department of Barnard College for fifteen years and danced professionally in the Companies of Kenneth King, Brenda Daniels, Gina Gibney, and others. Mary Lisa Burns holds an MFA in Dance from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and a BA from Barnard College/Columbia University.
